Candy is a US National Certified Counselor,  US Board-Certified Dance/Movement Therapist, US Registered Drama Therapist and Certified Child Life Specialist.

 

After a successful career as a Musical Theatre performer, Candy gradated from Antioch University New England with a MA in Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling in 2012. Candy did her counselling  internship at the Cheshire County Alternative Sentencing Program and Mental Health Court, serving misdemeanour offenders suffering from mental health and/or substance abuse issues, followed by a Dance/Movement Therapy internship at Children’s Hospital Los Angels, in addition to a Child Life internship at Hackensack Medical Centre, serving paediatric patients and their families.


Upon returning to Hong Kong, Candy started her private practice, Piece of Sky-Creative Arts Therapy and Counseling working with adults who are interested in exploring different options in life and partnered with with different Non-Governmental Organizations to provide service to a wide range of clients. Candy was hired by the Children’s Cancer Foundation as a Child Life Specialist and Dance/Movement Therapist, providing service to paediatric patients and their families at 5 different local hospitals (Prince of Wales Hospital, Queen Mary Hospital , Queen Elizabeth Hospital, United Christian Hospital and Princess of Margaret Hospital) . Candy worked as a contractor and provided group Dance/Movement Therapy service to adult cancer patients at the Patient Resource Centre of Prince of Wales Hospital, Queen Elizebeth Hospital and Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital.

In terms of professional contribution, Candy co-founded the Hong Kong Dance/Movement Therapy Association (past president and current honorary advisor)  and Hong Kong Child Life Association (current president) and served  as secretary of Hong Kong Association for Drama Therapists. Internationally, Candy served as a member of the American Dance Therapy Association's Standards and Ethics Committee, BC-DMT task force and co led the Asian and Asian Pacific Islander Desi American Affinity Group.

Teaching has been another passion of Candy's, she has been teaching at the University of Hong Kong’s Masters in Expressive Arts Program since 2014 while she was teaching the Performance Art module of the Medical Humanities curriculum (2014-2018, 2020-2021) created by The Absolutely Fabulous Theatre Connection (AFTEC)  at the School of Medicine. Candy is an Adjunct Faculty at Lesley University (Expressive Therapies Program), Antioch University New England (Dance/Movement Therapy: Couple & Family Therapy Program) and Antioch Santa Barbara (MA in Clinical Psychology (Somatic concentration)). As a Board Certified Dance/Movement Therapist and Board Certified Trainer in Drama Therapy, Candy is eligible to provide clinical supervision to Dance/Movement Therapy, Drama Therapy and Expressive Arts Therapy students and therapists.

Candy lived in Hong Kong, Belgium, UK and the US .Candy started the US branch of Piece of Sky in 2023; providing Chid Life and Creative Arts Coaching services. She is currently splitting her time between Hong Kong and the US. 

 

Candy is fluent in English, Cantonese, Mandarin and simple Flemish and baby sign (based on American Sign Language) .

In areas where we are not legally nor ethically allowed to provide psychotherapy, only Creative Arts Therapy Coaching service which focus on the present and setting up goals to achieve desired outcomes will be provided.
