Elevator speech series ~ Candy Lo
我們將會陸續上載其他專業會員的短片,密切留意 Elevator speech series: President of 香港舞蹈動作治療協會 Hong Kong Dance Movement Therapy Association; US Board-Certified Dance/Movement Therapist, Ms Candy Lo explaining to her friend about her work in less than 1.5 min.We will periodically upload video clips of other professional members. STAY TUNED! Dance/Movement Therapy What is Dance/Movement Therapy? Based on the empirically supported premise that the body, mind and spirit are interconnected, the American Dance Therapy Association defines dance/movement therapy as the psychotherapeutic use of movement to further the emotional, cognitive, physical and social integration of the individual.

What is Child Life? by Ms. Candy Lo, President, Hong Kong Child Life Association (27 Dec 2024)
Q&A during the Live Webcast: Audience: Thank you so much Candy for relieving human suffering far more effectively in a way that is fun and long lasting. Audience: May I know how child life help siblings and cousins to cope with the sudden loss of a child in the family? It’s too painful and too real but it is happening. Candy: It is indeed a very painful experience for the family, Child Life would work with the sibling and cousins in a similar way of sick children, in terms of accessing their development capacity, then use developmental appropriate ways to 1) explain the situation 2) help express and process their feelings about the loss 3) help create continual bond by ie. Art making or writing letter to the deceased Audience: I wish to make a comment - thank you Dr Chan for offering medical input to the play therapists, the concept of embedment and case conference is really great. Hope this will thrive in different parts of HK and elsewhere, like the rainbow cart for NRP, becoming thr standard in child care. Candy: It is indeed very important to have the medical professional on board , so that we can work together to help support the families and kids in a holistic way Audience: Where there is no regular child life service U.K. hk, are there any websites that parents and families can at least look at and take some refer from? Candy: Hong Kong child life association : https://hkchildlife.wordpress.com Association for child life professionals: https://www.childlife.org Piece of Sky : www.piece-of-sky.com Audience: Audience: I also heard about medical clowning before; wonder if it’s another specialty like child life? Candy: Medical clowning / dance therapy / expressive arts therapy / play therapy are all different professionals with different trainings to provide different level of support to sick kids. In some hospitals in the West, all these discipline are being coordinated by the child life department but not provided by child life specialists In some hospitals, they have child life and creative arts therapy as one department and they might have duo credential professionals who are both child life and creative arts ( dance / drama / music/ arts / expressive arts ) therapists.
